Well, here are pictures of the big celebration...the 20th of May. This is Cameroon's national independence day, and this year they are also marking the celebration of 50 years of reunification between English and French Cameroon.
Three of the Bum fons that I know. The fons on either end are from Kimbi where we really enjoy going to preach and visit. We are praying about an airfield for this village.
With Roger and David getting ready to head over to the grandstand. My "wing" sleeves are rolled up because of the heat. I really enjoyed being around Bum as a palace messenger, but I was ready to get back to normal when the day was done!
With the Paramount Fon of Bum just before the celebrations
Laying the horns that announced his arrival at the Fon's feet.
In the grandstand with David and Godfred. Most of the crowd was not in the grandstand but lining the street watching the parade and demonstrations.
The three leading government men in Bum...the Gendarme commandant, the Sous-Prefect (Divisional Officer), and the Mayor
SOOOO many schools marched by the grandstand!
Another palace messenger with the Paramount Fon. This man was the cup donor and organizer for the Bum Unity Cup football tournament.
Political and social groups also marched
Horsemanship demonstrations by three Mboro (Fulani) men.
The official presentation of the Bum Unity Cup to the Kimbi football team.
The camera ran out of battery power here, so I don't have any more pictures of the fun-filled day. Too much to tell, but I it was a great Cameroon day. David mentioned that he had never passed out so many gospel tracts as he and Godfred did while the crowd was dispersing.
Welcome to the news page for the Sam Sanderlin family. We are serving in the country of Cameroon, West Africa. We are planting churches in the Northwest Region and using aviation to reach out into the remote areas of the Southwest Region where the gospel is little known. Our sending church is Wyldewood Baptist in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Our sending agency, Wings as Eagles Mission Air Service, is a ministry of our home church.
Greetings from Cameroon!
II Thessalonians 3:1
"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you;"
